About head lice

Head lice infestations are a very common medical condition clinically known as “Pediculosis” - anyone can get them! The Mayo Clinic states that head lice are second only to the common cold among communicable diseases affecting schoolchildren. The CDC states that although reliable data on how many people get head lice each year are not available, an estimated 6 million to 12 million infestations occur each year in the United States among children 3 to 11 years of age.

Over the last 5 to 10 years, head lice infestations have increased dramatically in many regions of the world because lice have evolved widespread genetic resistance to the pesticides found in many traditional over-the-counter and prescription treatment products.
