Management Team
Larada Sciences has assembled a proven scientific and operating team that is uniquely qualified to lead the commercialization and global adoption of this breakthrough technology. The Company was founded by serial entrepreneurs with numerous successful start-ups and a detailed understanding of medical device markets and their dynamics. Together, the founders and key personnel represent a focused and capable group who have developed and commercialized more than 50 medical products in both start-ups and large companies.
Larry D. Rigby is currently founder, Chairman and CEO of Larada Sciences, a University
of Utah spinout. He was co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of ZARS Pharma from
inception in 1996 to January 2006. He is currently Vice Chairman of ZARS. Mr. Rigby
started his medical career with Sorenson Research Company in August 1975 where he
was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. From August 1982 to August 1985, he was
President of Martin U.S.A., a subsidiary of the German company Gebrűder Martin.
From August 1985 to June 1995 he was Chairman and founder of Alton Dean Medical, which was acquired by Mallinckrodt Medical in June 1995. In August 1986 he founded and became Chief Executive Officer of CardioPulmonics, which went public in 1992 and later merged with Innerdyne and then again with Tyco. Mr. Rigby was recently President of MicroJect, a company he founded in 1993 and which was acquired in 1998 by Sorenson Development. He is a co-founder and former Director of Kalypto Medical, co-founder and Chairman of Aplion Medical, and current Chairman of VisualShare, Inc. He serves as Chairman of Exeven Therapeutics, a University of Utah spinout that he cofounded. He is co-founder of The Salt Lake Life Science Angels.
Mr. Rigby has a B.A. from Idaho State University, an M.A. from the University of Kansas and further graduate work at The Johns Hopkins University. Idaho State University honored him in 2006 with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
Mr. Randall D. Block is a founder, Director, and President and COO of Larada Sciences.
He previously founded three successful technology-based start-ups and has over 15
years of experience commercializing emerging technologies and medical products.
As a business leader and biomedical engineer, he has been responsible for the successful
development of nearly 20 commercial products that have collectively surpassed $100M
in revenues, and his innovations have been awarded eight US patents and several
national awards.
Mr. David Rudd, J.D., is a founder and advisor to Larada. Mr. Rudd is a partner
with Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll (SLC, UT) where he practices law in the area
of complex domestic and international business transactions. He regularly advises
clients on general business matters, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, alternative
market entry strategies and structures, private and public equity and debt financings,
securities, and distribution, agency, and licensing matters. He has been a founder
and director for several successful technology and medical technology start-ups.
Marleen De Winter., Director of Marketing, has extensive international experience
in marketing, PR, account management and sales, working for global companies such
as Allied International and Marsh Inc. in Brussels, Belgium, and most recently at
Microsoft Corporation, creating best practices across various teams. She graduated
with a Law Degree and a Postgraduate Degree in International Relations from the
KUL in Belgium.
